We’re Hiring: Creative Coordinator

Rose City Rollers is a 19-year-old, 501c3 nonprofit, fearless sports organization that prides itself in being body positive and an empowering space for women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals. We are the largest roller derby league in the world with 550+ members, ages 7-64+. Our members are engaged in many aspects of our organization through skating, volunteering, and more. You may come for the job, but you’ll thrive here if you’re passionate about changing lives through participation in sports and helping create community.

The role:

As the Creative Coordinator, you are a strong visual storyteller who can create on-brand designs supporting our mission. We’re looking for a multi-faceted designer who is a pro at branding, merchandise design, social media content creation, e-blasts, project management, and more. Whether that’s building out graphics, working with vendors to design killer merch, or jumping in to edit video content, you do a little of everything. Being able to delegate tasks is a must in this position. As a primarily volunteer-run organization, you’ll often have creatives willing and eager to jump in and help. You’ll need to be detail oriented, ambitious, and able to maintain a rigorous production schedule. If you’re passionate about changing lives through participation in sports and helping create a community, we encourage you to apply for this position.

Work schedule:

The position is part-time. You must be LOCAL to apply – this is a hybrid position. We primarily work from home, with occasional in-person meetings and events.

Compensation:

$23/hr. Benefits include paid vacation, holiday pay, sick time, a flexible schedule, a monthly tech stipend, and participation in the Oregon Saves retirement savings program. Additionally, access to the Adobe Creative Suite is also provided.

To apply for this position, you will need to submit a resume and portfolio. Additionally, you should be prepared to answer the following questions:

  1. Describe the type of graphic design or creative work that you are most passionate about.
  2. In this role, you not only need to have top-notch design skills, but you also have to recognize and foster that talent in volunteers and interns. Tell us about a time when you delegated a project to another and how you felt about the outcome.
  3. We’ve recently restructured our Marketing Department, and part of this transition has included developing proper process documentation and building programs & teams from the ground up. Describe a process or a team that you have developed in your career, and what steps did you take to make it happen successfully?
  4. We have a robust merchandise store that features apparel and accessory items from Rose City Rollers as a brand and each of the 15 teams and programs within the league. What is your experience designing merchandise, working with vendors, and developing different on-brand merch aesthetics?
