In this series, you will attend four 2-hour practices, learning basic skating skills with a roller derby flair. At the end of the series, you will be invited to become a member of Rose City Rollers and continue your derby journey!
The skills covered include standing, falling, stopping, and crossovers. More advanced skaters will learn backwards skating, lateral movement, and transitions (changing from forwards to backwards skating while rolling). While these are basic skating skills, they are taught through a roller derby lens and layered with light pack drills.
While there are 4 weeks of practices, in duration this series spans 5 weeks. There is no practice on November 2nd while Rose City Rollers hosts the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s Global Championships at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum (come watch!)
When: Saturdays, 8 to 10 am (10/26, 11/9, 11/16 and 11/23). NO practice on 11/2
