How Our Community Discovers Their Power

It’s no secret that the last two years have been difficult for many folks in many ways. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve seen the increasing need for safe, social and healthful activities and have been dedicated to meeting our community where they’re at and forging a path to offer them these opportunities in any way we can.

In this time we’ve overhauled the way we conduct practices for our league, launched SKATEMOBILE and brought it into the community, have partnered with organizations such as Brown Girl Rise, Active Children Portland and others to bring the joy of roller skating to underserved populations.

Even though keeping our doors open is a constant uphill battle, we believe making derby and roller skating accessible is the only way forward. We’re more dedicated than ever to breaking down the barriers to access: from our outreach to the greater Portland community to offering scholarships and a gear-lending program. These are all essential to our mission of empowering women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals on and off the track.

Much of our gear is now worn out – skates have holes in them and protective gear is exhausted. Our scholarship funds are dwindling and we need to replenish so we can keep our community rolling.

We can clearly see the impact in what we do, as witnessed by the testimonials below. If you’re in a place to give and want to be a part of forging a bright future for our sport and community, consider making a donation today. A gift of any amount is deeply meaningful; even life-changing for many.
