Rose City Rollers to host junior All-Star tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Rose City Rollers will host “Bridge City Riot: junior All-Star tournament” April 17-19 at the historic Hangar at Oaks Park.

The tournament will feature teams from the West Coast and beyond. Organizers of the event hope to bring the community together and celebrate future stars of the sport.

Nationally, youth roller derby programs are on the decline. The Rose City Rollers hopes to change that by helping grow the sport and giving young athletes the tools to be competitive and work in a larger team.

“Investing in our youth programs is an investment in our future,” said a representative from Rose City Rollers. “Everyone involved shows up for the love of the sport. For many of these young skaters, roller derby is a life-changing source of confidence, connection, and belonging.”

Bridge City Riot is open to the public and is perfect for Portland families since there is something for everyone.
