Youth Roller Derby Athletes to Skate in Portland Tournament

PORTLAND, OR, APRIL 6, 2026 – Youth roller derby athletes from across the West Coast and beyond head to Portland from April 17th–19th for Bridge City Riot, an annual juniors all-star tournament hosted by Rose City Rollers, (Portland’s world champion roller derby league). The event will take place at the historic Hangar at Oaks Park, bringing together the sport’s future stars for an exciting weekend of high-level competition and community celebration.

As youth programs across the country face declines, Rose City Rollers continues to push for the growth and accessibility of youth roller derby. Bridge City Riot offers a competitive yet supportive environment where young athletes develop skills, build confidence, and experience teamwork on a larger stage. Beyond the competition, Bridge City Riot reflects the integral community that surrounds youth roller derby. Coaches, officials, volunteers, and families play a vital role in supporting skaters both on and off the track, creating an environment centered on mentorship, inclusion, and empowerment.

“Investing in our youth programs is an investment in our future,” said a representative from Rose City Rollers. “Everyone involved shows up for the love of the sport. For many of these young skaters, roller derby is a life-changing source of confidence, connection, and belonging.”

Bridge City Riot is open to the public and is perfect for Portland families who are looking for a unique outing together. With something for everyone, attendees can enjoy raffle prizes, merch, concessions, interactive halftime games, and fast-paced action on the track. Multiple ticket options are available to fit every level of interest. Choose from single-game passes, day passes, or full weekend access. Kids under 6 get in free.
