Portland Junior Roller Derby Championships This Sunday

Rose City Rollers Junior Home Teams, Ages 7-18, to compete for gold on December 17th.

PORTLAND, OREGON, DECEMBER 12, 2023 – The Rose City Rollers (RCR) Juniors are set to conclude the 2023 season with a highly anticipated Championship bout this Sunday, Dec. 17th. The culmination of these young skaters’ hard work will take place at the iconic Hangar at Oaks Park, where fans will find out who skates away with the gold.

Roller derby enthusiasts and sports aficionados alike are invited to witness the future of the sport at this season’s final Doubleheader. In the first game, the 7-12-year-old “Petals” will vie for victory as the Killer Bees face off against the Skaters of Doom. Following that, the 13-18-year-old “Rosebuds” will take the track in game two, with the Undead Avengers battling the Rainbow Bites. This event is open to the public, and kids and teens will love watching these youth skaters battle it out on the track. Tickets are available now, and kids under 6 get in free.

Rainbow Bites Coach Jaid “RollsMary’s Baby” Eichmiller talks about her team’s progress this year: “I’m really excited to show everyone how hard the team has been working all season! We came in last place last season, and the skaters really emphasized wanting to learn and grow as a team based on last season’s experience. We have switched some things up this season and really dedicated time to bringing up more jammers and seeing them shine on the track has been a highlight.”

Junior Home Team Championships will be an unforgettable experience for youth, with interactive halftime shows, great raffle prizes, and delicious food and beverage options such as Liquid Death, Yerba Mate, Lion Heart Kombucha, Rogue Ales, 2 Towns Cider, and more!
